MassEquality, the grassroots advocacy organization that helped protect marriage equality for same-sex couples in Massachusetts, is very excited to be partnering with the LGBT Aging Project to help achieve greater equality for LGBT seniors. One of their priorities this year is working with the LGBT Aging Project to pass the MassHealth Equality Bill, an important piece of legislation that will grant married same-sex couples in MA the same access to Medicaid benefits as heterosexual couples. There are several projects they can use our help with. Check their website at www.massequality.org or contact Mellissa Threadgill (617-878-2314) to sign up or ask any questions you may have.

Gathering of LGBT Grandparents on November 15, 2008
On November 15th we'll show off grandchild pictures, laugh about the cute things they do, and figure out how to be sure we get along well enough with our children so we have ample time with the "grands". I so look forward to meeting more of our group - finding out how we are living now, and laughing about the old days.
Please RSVP so we may plan for food. Lunch is included in your $20 registration fee. Parking will be easy that day at our space at Wheelock College, Brookline Campus. If you aren't sure about how to find us, check a map for 43 Hawes Street, Brookline, and look for a picture of our building on Stonewall Communities.

End Federal Discrimination Against Married Same-Sex Couples! If you are married to a person of the same sex, retired, and receiving Social Security benefits, you may be getting shortchanged by the federal government. Because the federal government does not recognized your marriage, you may be receiving a smaller benefit than you would if you were married to a person of the opposite sex, and you may be harmed in your retirement in other ways. Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders would like to hear from you!
